Janet Meade Covington - Obituary

anet Meade Covington, 62, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, passed away on February 8, 2017 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Janet was born on August 17, 1954 in Annapolis, MD to the late Richard and Jeannette Hall Meade and was a graduate of Annapolis High School. She worked as a bank teller and retired from Bank of America. Janet was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Eastport and volunteered at the Food Bank religiously, even during her sickness. Her interests included riding motorcycles, boating, going on cruises and eating crabs. Janet is survived by her brothers, Richard Meade and his wife Diane and David Meade and his wife Patricia, her nieces, Karen Siskind and Julia Kiss and her nephew Richard Jay Meade. She is also survived by her great nieces Megan Meade, Sarah Siskind and her great nephew, Jay Meade, Jr. and her step-children, Rob Steward and Carrie Cox, and three step-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janet’s life on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 1pm to 3pm and from 6pm to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037 where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 11am. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Annapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Eastport, 208 Chesapeake Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403.
