Janet S. White - Obituary

anet White passed away September 6, 2021. She was born in Peterson, Iowa (Janet Sue Barber) and grew up on a farm in nearby Marathon. After high school graduation, she relocated to Washington D.C. to work for the Federal Government. In 1961, Janet married Michael White and this past August, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Janet retired in 1996 after a 25 year career with the CIA , Office of Logistics. She and Michael were 50 year residents of Vienna, VA , and were founding members of the Saint Mark Catholic Community in Vienna. Janet loved to travel and enjoyed 17 cruises , along with numerous cross-country trips in the U.S. and annual "beach week" vacations in Myrtle Beach, SC. Her great-grand and grandchildren remember her as someone who is generous and loving. Family and friends will miss her ever-present smile and laughter. She exemplified hope, joy and kindness. God Bless you, Janet. You will always be with us. Janet was preceded in death by a son, David; her parents, Floyd and Lilian Barber and by five brothers and a sister. Janet is survived by her husband, Michael and their daughter, Amy Bladel (James). She is also survived by a sister, Judy Johnson of Linn Grove, IA and a brother, Howard Barber of Roseland, FL Janet is grandmother to Dana Blough (Michael), Mark Bladel, Monica Bladel, and Elliott Gilson (Raquel). She is great-grandmother to Alexis Blough, Ryan Blough, Alexander Gilson and Charlotte Gilson.
