Janice Schwien Donovan - Obituary

anice Schwien Donovan, “Mama Jan “, 62, a 28-year resident of Shadyside, MD and previously of Brandywine, MD, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Janice was born on April 9, 1958 in Washington, DC to Harvey Schwien and Helen Hardesty. She was a proud 1976 “Yellow Jacket” graduate of Gwynn Park High School in Brandywine, MD. She retired as a supervisor from the Maryland MVA after a 30 year career and later worked for Lanes Bus Service for 8 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Shadyside and Upper Marlboro, MD. Her interests included twirling the baton in high school, spending time with her family, going to “ladies night” at Happy Harbor with friends, cooking and loved the Washington Football Team. She is survived by her two daughters; Dawn Hall and Kacy Donovan, both of Shady Side, MD, her grandchildren; Griffin Donovan, Faith Reeder, and Fallyn Dodson. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janice’s life on Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 2 to 4pm and again from 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037.
