Jay Burns - Obituary

ay Robert Burns, 80, a 12-year resident of Chester, MD and previously of Annapolis, MD died on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at his home of lung cancer following a 10 month illness. He was born June 21, 1932 in Mason City, IA, he received his bachelor degree in Engineering from Iowa State University. Jay was a decorated Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1951-54. He was employed as a commercial real estate agent. His memberships included Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church in Stevensville, MD, the Coastal Conservation Association and Alcoholics Anonymous; celebrating 28 years of sobriety. Jay was an avid and passionate Kent Island fisherman. Jay is survived by his wife of 25 years, Judy Basil-Burns; five sons, Mark Burns of Raleigh, NC, Martin Burns of Thurmont, MD, Mathew Burns of Frederick, MD, Basil Clarke of Arlington, VA and Jason Clarke of Chester, MD; two daughters, Lori Goldberg of Annapolis, MD and Lisa Bedrosian of Brandon, FL; his siblings, Wallace Burns of Clear Lake, IA and Janet Grady of Annapolis, MD; also survived by 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at 11am at Safe Harbor Presbyterian Church. Inurnment church cemetery.
