Jean Reeves - Obituary

ean “Jeanie” Grace (Smith) Reeves, 78, a 38-year resident of Shady Side, MD died at her residence on Saturday, March 5, 2011 of progressive supranuclear palsy after a lengthy illness. Born August 24, 1932 in Washington, DC, to the late Charles Irving and Mary Lillian Smith, Jeanie was employed as a file clerk at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and later as a switchboard operator at “Sincerely Yours” message service. A member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West River, MD, Jeanie loved bowling, trips to Atlantic City casinos, bingo and Keno. She is survived by her husband, Donald Reeves, whom she married in 1973; two daughters, Mary Lillian Clark of Sunderland, MD and Kathleen Grace Godbee of Greenbelt, MD; a brother, Robert (Patricia) Irving Smith of Naples, FL, also survived by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Jeanie’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, March 10 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church 101 Owensville Road, West River, MD. Interment immediately following Mass in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
