ean F. Vale, 86, a 5-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Silver Spring, MD for 38 years, died on June 13, 2010 of natural causes at Atria Manresa in Annapolis. She was a native Washingtonian, born on September 19, 1923 to the late Henry and Carrie Milne. On December 30, 1944, she married Colonel Sumner “Tut†Vale, USMC Retired. who died in 1996. After working briefly for the Department of the Treasury, Jean spent most of her life as a homemaker, devoted to her family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, board games and playing cards. Jean is survived by four daughters: Sister Carol Jean Vale, S.S.J. of Philadelphia, PA, Patricia A. Vale of Arnold, MD, Catherine L. Robson and her husband, Christopher, of Churchton, MD and Sheril Bowman and her husband, Ray, of Manassas, VA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. Friends are invited to Jean's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 17, at 11:30 a.m. St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Road, Annapolis, MD 21409. Interment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
