Jean Ward - Obituary

ean Anne Ward, 78, of Annapolis, MD died at Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD on October 13, 2009 of Alzheimer's Disease after a 12-year illness. Born November 13, 1930 in Washington, D.C. to the late Martha and Elmer Richter, she was employed as a clerk at the Anne Arundel County Department of Assessment and Taxation and was also a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anne's Church in Annapolis, MD. Jean loved her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Ward enjoyed sewing, reading, pets, bird watching, baking, science and painting. She was the beloved wife of Lester L. Ward, whom she married November 23, 1950; mother of Michael S. Ward of Annapolis, MD, Lester L. Ward, Jr. of Huntingtown, MD, Laura K. Ward of Annapolis, MD, Mary C. Dindino of Prince Frederick, MD and Jean A. Jewell of Lothian, MD; and sister of Joseph Richter of Clinton, MD. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Friends are invited to Jean's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 1:00 P.M. until time of service beginning at 2:00pm. Interment private.
