effery (Jeff) Maurice McKinney, age 70, transitioned unexpectedly on January 20, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and style that will never be forgotten. Born on May 21, 1955, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, Jeff was the son of Thelma Wilson and Maurice C.J. McKinney (both deceased). He was educated in DC Public Schools and later attended Job Corps, where his natural talent and work ethic began to shine. As a true “Jack of all trades,” Jeff made his mark as a skilled painter, taking pride in everything he touched. He retired in 2009 from the Department of Mental Health at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and later continued doing what he loved, painting, at Pineview Nursing Home in Clinton, Maryland. Above all else, Jeff was a family man. One of his greatest joys was raising his grandsons, Quincy and Daquan McKinney, whom he took in at birth and loved dearly. They were his heart, his pride, and his legacy. Jeff knew how to enjoy life. A devoted sports fan, he proudly cheered for the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Nationals, and Washington Capitals. He loved fishing, golfing, and having a good time with friends and family. Known as a certified 'fly guy,' Jeff never missed a chance to step out clean — pinky rings shining, his signature “J” chain on display, glasses perfectly set, and confidence leading the way. Wherever he went, he brought laughter, good vibes, and unforgettable energy. Jeff is survived by his loving children: LaKesha Littlejohn, Maurice McKinney, Brittani McKinney (spouse Jeffrey Williams), and Malcolm Anderson; his cherished grandchildren: Quincy McKinney, Daquan McKinney, Robert Littlejohn, Malik Littlejohn, and Desi Rae Williams; his siblings: Carolyn Stearns, Shelia McKinney, Renee Harrison (spouse Kevin), Jonathan “Kim” McKinney , Joy Mackall (spouse McKinley), and Curtis McKinney; and his devoted life partner, Gloria Shivers. He also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda “Chocolate” Wilson. Jeff lived life 'his' way — full of love, laughter, music, style, and unforgettable moments. Though he is no longer with us physically, his laugh, his swag, and his spirit will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for Jeffrey's Life Celebration on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 10 A.M. until the start of the service at 11 A.M. at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill MD 20745.
