Jerry DeGrouchy - Obituary

alter “Jerry” DeGrouchy, age 85, a resident of the Edgewater/Annapolis area for over 41 years, died peacefully at his Edgewater home on July 5, 2022. Born in Washington, D.C., on July 10, 1936, Jerry began his career at Southern Railroad in D.C., but spent most of his life as a contractor, specializing in kitchen remodeling. His hobbies included golf, bowling, horseshoes, poker, and yard work. Jerry was a tireless, energetic, giving, and caring person whose optimism and love for life never waned. Jerry is survived by his life partner of 41 years, Catherine “Doodie” Barbour; his children, David (Laura) of Bowie MD, Ronnie (Sharon) of Selbyville DE, Kenny (Carla) of Temecula CA, William (Susan) of Monrovia MD, Theresa (Danny) Gatewood of Edgewater MD, Trista (Scott) Barbour Neff of Crystal Beach FL, and Kellie Barbour Wilkinson of Edgewater MD; his brother, James of Chattanooga TN; his grandchildren, Kyle, Eric, Sean, Evan, John Michael, Kim, Briana, Allie, Jilly, Megan, Victoria Rose, Simone, and Emma; and his great grandchildren, Steven, Hailey, Owen, and Kaiden; and many beloved nieces of nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to Jerry’s life celebration on Thursday, July 14 from 1 PM until his memorial service begins at 2:30 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater.
