Jerry Wells - Obituary

erry Lee Wells, 93, a 44-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Hyattsville, MD, passed away on March 1, 2022, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born November 7, 1928, in Charlotte, NC, he was employed for the United States Park Police from 1950 to 1979. He was appointed as the Chief of Police and served from 1973 to 1979. Jerry was a member of Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Annapolis, MD, Association of Retired Police Officers (DC), and the Retired United States Park Police Association. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Evelyn Lorraine Wells. Jerry is survived by three children, Teresa Acton of Edgewater, MD, Norman Wells of Gerrardstown, WV, and Mark Wells of Riva, MD; three grandchildren, Andrew Frank Acton, Kyle Wells, and Justin Wells; and one great-grandson, Andrew Frank Acton, Jr. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, March 9 at 10:30 am until his funeral service begins at 11 am at Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church,2747 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ss.
