n Sunday, May 27, 2007 at the Caroline Home for Hospice in Denton, Maryland of congestive heart failure. A resident of Easton, MD and previously of Edgewater, MD she was born in Brentwood, MD on November 13, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Stickell. She attended school in Prince George's and Anne Arundel County. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she also loved to do crafts, take day trips, and work puzzles. She was a member of the Reflections Doll Club, which she belonged to for 25 years and the Easton Church of God. She also enjoyed reading the Capital Newspaper since 1941. In 1941, she married Oliver Ward, Sr., whom she divorced in 1987. She is survived by two sons, Oliver Ward, Jr. and Walter Ward, both of Edgewater, MD., two daughters, Joy Wilder of Easton, MD with whom she lived and Diane Anthony of Bridgeville, DE. Also survived by her brother Julius “Ted†Stickell and his wife Anne, of Hemmingway, SC., 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law Lois Wyatt, Joan Mason, Dorothy Stickell and Florence Ward. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, friends, and special friends Helen Wood, Gertrude Reid, Poly Holt, and Mildred Exum. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Raymond and Lynn Ward, six brothers, Oscar, Joe, Skippy, Harry, Woody, infant George Stickell and four sisters, Rose Thurm, Eva Baker, Alice Cullember, and infant Julia Etta Stickell. Relatives and friends are invited to Jessie's Life Celebration on Thursday, May 31 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037, where services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 10am. Interment St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Annapolis, MD.
