Jimmey McDaniel - Obituary

immey V. “Big Reds” McDaniel, 76, a resident of Edgewater for 54 years, died May 13, 2023 with his daughter by his side. He was born in Cheverly, MD on December 7, 1946 to the late Voiel and Mary McDaniel. He was a sharpshooter in the US Army from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1968. He was the longtime owner of Drywall by McDaniel Construction. His memberships included the Knights of Pythias and American Legion, and he loved watching his grandson play football and celebrating the holidays with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Smith of Edgewater; Danielle’s mother, Kelly Smith; his son in law, Michael Lazo; his son, Robert McDaniel of Edgewater; his adopted daughter, Kari (Kenny Ireland) Hoffman of Edgewater; his siblings, Robert “Weasel” McDaniel of West Virginia and Jane Tillett of Edgewater; grandsons Phoenyx Penska, and Kenneth and Kamden Ireland; nephews Weaver and Neil McDaniel; his niece, Elizabeth Tillett; great niece Autumn Lawson; great nephew Jace Foster; and his extended family of cousins. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 19 from 5-9 PM at American Legion Post 226, 830 Mayo Road, Edgewater.
