Joan Beall - Obituary

oan Marie Beall, 66, of Riva, died February 1 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 24, 1945 in Washington, D.C. to Marie Tilley Drew (Reno) and the late Wendell Giles Reno. She graduated from Suitland High School in Prince Georges County in 1963. She grew up in District Heights and moved to Riva in 1978. She retired from bookkeeping in the carpet installation industry after many years. She attended Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis. She was also a member of the Annapolis Quilt Guild. Her hobbies included international travel, quilting, sewing, genealogy and antiques. She is survived by her husband, Bruce B. Beall; son, William P. Beall; daughter, Catherine M. Rutkowski; daughter-in-law Sheri Beall; son-in-law Krzysztof Rutkowski; grandson Danny Rogers; granddaughters Lauren, Kristen, Ashley and Sara Beall and Rose and Grace Rutkowski. Friends are invited to Joan’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, February 5, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6 at 1p.m. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 Rt. 3 N., Bldg. A, Gambrills, MD 21054.
