oan Mildred Howard, age 70, a thirty-seven year resident of Riva, MD, died on Monday, July 26, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Riva after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born on July 31, 1939 in Washington, D.C. to the late Stanley and Mildred Wisnieski, Joan was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill, MD and for the last fourteen years she has worked as a bus aide with Aisquith Bus Service. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD, the Healing Journey Support Group and the Annapolis Moose. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed travelling, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. Joan was pre-deceased by her husband, Ronald S. Howard, Sr., they were married on August 8, 1959, and a brother, Michael Wisnieski. She is survived by her son, Ronald C.S. Howard, Jr. of Riva, MD; two daughters, Kathleen M. Potts of Edgewater, MD and Marlene E. Mueller of Riva, MD; a sister, Mary Lillian Smith of Harwood, MD; five grandchildren, Ronald C.S. Howard, III, Michael and Edward Potts, Kevin Mueller, Jr. and Katie Mueller and one great grandson. Friends are invited to Joan’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, July 30 at 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD.
