Joan M. Lampshire - Obituary

oan Lampshire died 4 October 2021, age 79. Born in Southbridge, Massachusetts the daughter of Frances (Mal) and Mary (nee Bousquet) Malboeuf, she is survived by her husband of 37 years, Geoffrey, a younger sister, Lois, a son Frederick, and 5 grandchildren. A daughter, Elizabeth, predeceased her. She struggled for 6-7 years against Progressive Supranuclear Palsey (PSP). Joan had a varied and rewarding life. After graduating from Nasson college, Springvale Maine with a BA, she taught in secondary school for a number of years. She frequently talked about the students she had. She then followed a 30 year career as a real estate broker. She talked about the customers she had there too. While residing in Riva for 22 years, she participated in community activities. She particularly enjoyed New Annapolitans , multiple book clubs, canasta and as one of the authors fund raising for New Annapolitans publishing “Comings and Goings.” A cook book that was so popular it resulted in multiple print runs. Like many wives whose husband races sail boats, she developed a love of the water aboard a sailboat. This also led to an active participation at AYC. A gathering will be held at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, 22 October 1500 – 1700 hrs. In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to CUREPSP at CUREPSP.org.
