Joanne Carr - Obituary

oanne Duckett Carr, 80, a longtime resident of Edgewater, died at home Saturday, May 11, after battling COPD. Born December 5, 1932, to the late Frank and Edith Duckett, she worked for the US Post Office in Edgewater as a mail carrier and retired after 27 years of service. In her spare time, Joanne enjoyed putting together jig-saw puzzles, watching the Orioles and Ravens, taking care of her two dogs, Eisenhower and Lilly and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Mark (Laura) Carr of Edgewater; two daughters, Vicki L. Taylor of Edgewater and Sheri A. (Michael) Kloby of Edgewater; one brother, James Duckett of Davidsonville; three sisters, Doris Bausum of Riva, Frances Grimes of Arnold and Alice Lyons of Hobe Sound, FL; two grandsons, John Taylor and David Carr; five granddaughters, Amy Tesar, Christine Kloby, Rebecca Sprague, Sarah Kloby and Shannon Carr. Friends are invited to Joanne’s Life Celebration on Thursday, May 16 from 4-7PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, where a funeral service will be celebrated Friday, May 17 at 11AM. Interment is private.
