Joanne E. Connolly - Obituary

oanne E. Connolly, "Nany", 87, a resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of The Villages, FL, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1936 in Washington, DC to the late Arby C. and Marion E. Pyles. Joanne graduated from Northwestern High School in 1953 and from the Washington School of Secretaries in 1954. She began her working career at the Railroad and later worked in radio for WYRE and WHFS as a business manager. After retiring from radio, she became a bookkeeper for Fred Fishback Architects in Annapolis, MD until she moved to The Villages in 2002. After moving to FL, she worked for Bill Boyd Attorney at Law until finally retiring. Joanne became a member of the Mid-Atlantic Club located in The Villages where she enjoyed the fellowship and gathering of many new friends. She also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, boating, and most of all dachshunds. In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John J. Connolly, Jr. She is survived by her children, Dale (Karen) Winters and Sharon Clymer, both of Edgewater, and Donna (David) Bowen of Prince Frederick, MD; her granddaughters, Jennifer (DJ) Powell of Davidsonville, MD, Nicole Clymer (Eric) of Parma, OH and Shelby Winters of Edgewater. She is also survived by her three great grandchildren, Ashlynn Zimmerman, Hannah and Jonah Powell, all of Davidsonville, who were the light of her life; her beloved dog Miley and many other family pets.
