Joanne Johnson Tyson - Obituary

oanne “Jody” Johnson Tyson, 49, a 12 year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Miller Place, NY died at her home in the Beverly Beach area of Edgewater on December 7, 2008 of liver and kidney failure after a one year illness. Born, January 6, 1959 in Ridgewood, NJ to Herbert and Joan Johnson of East Marion, NY, she graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in Berkeley Springs, WV, then from Cortland State University in Cortland, NY with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education. She was a homemaker most of her life. Jody was a devoted mother, who cherished her daughters. She also lovingly committed herself to working with disabled children and the elderly. Mrs. Tyson was a member of Fran's bible study group. Her hobbies included beach combing, cooking, gardening, horseback riding, science and camping. She was the beloved wife of David Tyson, whom she married in 1988; mother of Alexandra Rae and Mackenzie Ann Tyson, both of the home; sister of Chris Johnson of Shoreham, NY, Erik Johnson of Omaha, NE, Bridget Johnson of Port Washington, NY, Karin Wanag of Montauk, NY and Jennifer Johnson of Beverly, MA. Friends are invited to Jody's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, December 12 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm, with a funeral service beginning at 7pm. Interment private.
