Joanne E. Wachowiak - Obituary

oanne Elizabeth Wachowiak, "Jo", a 28-year resident of Davidsonville, MD, and previously of Upper Marlboro, MD, died at her home of pulmonary fibrosis on October 10, 2023. She was born on August 30, 1956 in Suffield, CT to the late Jane Merrigan and George Joseph Butler. Jo received a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and worked for the Montgomery County Public School system for over 30 years as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She enjoyed baking, volunteering for her community, and spending time with her granddaughter. In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Melvin Joseph Wachowiak, Jr., and a brother, George. She is survived by her two children, Nikolas Joseph Wachowiak of Sykesville, MD and Natalie Rose Wachowiak of Davidsonville, MD; two siblings, Robert of Berlin, CT and DeeDee of Hingham, MA and her beloved granddaughter, Olive Piper. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 2 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
