Joanne Denise Waters - Obituary

e are sad to announce the passing of our Dear Joanne Denise Waters. Born January 2, 1963, and gained her wings on October 12, 2023. She was 60 years young. She was born and raised in Washington D.C., where she attended DC public schools. She recently obtained her High School Diploma and was very proud of her achievement. She resided in Baltimore Maryland where she tragically lost her beautiful life. Joanne battled with her addiction for many years but, she continued to show resilience and prayed daily for change. Joanne loved life and her children. Her smile is one to remember. It was infectious and welcoming and would light up any room that she walked into. She loved to dance. It brought her so much joy and when it was time to BOP, she’d always look for her synchronized dance partner, Darryl Brown. She enjoyed laughter, plays, taking trips, bid whist and shopping, shopping, shopping. Joanne was down to earth and was always encouraging you to do better. She would reassure you with her wisdom and support. She was also a no-nonsense kind of woman. All who knew and loved her, she told them off a time or two! “Right Baby”? as she would say and smile. Joanne will be sorely missed as she was loved by many. Joanne is preceded in death by her late mother, Barbara Ann Waters. He leaves behind to mourn her wife, Johnetta Walker; her beloved five children: Yolanda M. Waters, Steven E. Waters, Shanika D. Waters, and twins Tyisha N. Waters and Lamisha S. Waters; four granddaughters, eight grandsons, and two great-grandkids; one brother, Kenneth M. Waters; one sister-in-law, Kathy Waters; one best friend/ sister, Roxanne Watkins. Also survived by many cousins, an uncle, aunts, and many friends. The Waters Family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, support, and prayers. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, October 27th from 12-1 PM to celebrate the life of Joanne at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory: 6160 Oxon Hill road Oxon Hill, MD 20745, with a memorial service to begin at 1 PM.
