ohn “Jack” Lawrence Brady, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at his home in Fort Washington, Maryland. He was born to Lawrence and Helen Brady on August 26, 1934 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He grew up in West Springfield, Massachusetts and graduated from Cathedral High School and then went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Holy Cross College. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he worked for the United States Federal Government both overseas and in Washington, D.C. Jack married Maureen O’Neill from Richmond, Virginia in 1969; and they raised their family in Fort Washington, Maryland as Jack continued his government career as a Budget Director for the Department of Housing & Urban Development. He retired in 1997. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Brady. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maureen; his children: Megan (Michael) Silver of Corpus Christi, Texas, John (Alice) Brady of Youngsville, North Carolina, and Nell (Liam) Sullivan of Bristow, Virginia; his 8 grandchildren: Maria (Matthew) Robinson, Danica (Zachary) Branson, Adam Silver, Ryan Silver, Brady Sullivan, Emily Silver, Luke Sullivan, and Lily Brady; his 4 great-grandchildren: Hayden Robinson, Brooklyn Robinson, Emma Branson, and Clayton Branson; his sister Helene Brennan and many other relatives and friends. Jack was funny, smart, and an epic storyteller. He is already missed. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway, 13401 Piscataway Rd., Clinton, MD. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. After the service, we will gather at Tantallon Golf & Country Club, 300 St. Andrew’s Dr., Fort Washington, MD to toast all we love about Jack. Please join us. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org) at JDRF, PO BOX 37920, Boone IA 50037-0920. Arrangements are under the direction of Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory.
