ohn Thomas Ainsworth, 71, of Clarkesville, Ga., passed on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 12, 2012. John was born in Detroit, Michigan on Nov. 13, 1940 to the late Merrill Leonard and Gladys Ainsworth. John formerly lived in Annapolis, Md., and Naples, FL. His late wife Julie Lytton Ainsworth preceded him in death. He leaves his loving wife, Kay Ainsworth of the home; Step-son Kevin Burke and fiancé Tiffany Salisbury, both of Naples, FL; niece Janet (Kevin) Smith of Sterling, Va. and his loving dog, CoCo whom he rescued. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967. He was stationed at Cam Ranh Bay AFB in Viet Nam from 1966-1967 as Flight Facilities Equipment Repairman. His first job out of the Air Force was as Technical Representative for Philco Ford, assigned to Instrumentation Research and Development Group at NASA Langley AFB. John’s general career was involved with Electronic Instrumentation Sales. He was Annapolis-based Regional Sales Manager of Endevco, Corp. of San Juan Capistrano, CA for 14 years until congestive heart failure in 1996. John then retired to Naples, FL. to live out his final years which were to be no more than five, but God had another plan. John attended Men’s bible study, volunteered in various ministries at church, taught children’s Sunday school and volunteered in children’s ministries in FL and Ga. He attended and served on Men’s spiritual retreats in Georgia. He served as a Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for one year. John enjoyed boating, learning new technology, computers, traveling and cooking. His culinary skills were the delight of family and friends. Visitation will be on Monday, February 20, 2012 from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 10am at Riva Trace Baptist Church, 475 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, Palmetto Campus, 9250 Hutcheson Ferry Road, Palmetto, GA. 30268 or, the Salvation Army.
