J

ohn T. Broderick, Jr., “Johnny B”, 86, a longtime resident of Colton’s Point, Maryland, died of natural causes on November 5 at his Annapolis home. Born December 16, 1926, to the late Anne and John T. Broderick, Sr., he was a 1944 graduate of McKinley High School. After high school, John served his country in the US Navy during WWII until 1946, receiving four medals. He then went on to graduate with a degree from Strayer’s Business College. After college, “Johnny B” worked in financial management for the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare and the Washington, DC government. He was a Boy Scouts of America Assistant Scoutmaster, enjoyed watching sporting events, fishing, crabbing, cooking, gardening, woodworking and working with stained glass. He could do just about anything. John is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Broderick and one sister, Patricia Hamm. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joan Broderick; four sons, Steven (Chong) Broderick, Edmund (Mary Jo) Broderick, Leigh Broderick and Lowell Broderick; one step-son, Mark (Elissa) Shepherd; one brother, Daniel Broderick; one sister, Eileen Walker; and his grandchildren, John, Thomas, Joseph, and Emily. Friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration from 3 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm on Friday, November 8 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9 at 11am. Interment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
