John Burke - Obituary

ohn Joseph Burke, age 71, a resident of Edgewater, MD, died on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Mandrin Hospice House in Harwood, MD. Born on January 13, 1939 in Washington, D.C., John was a graduate of Anacostia High School where he excelled in all sports. After high school John served in the U.S. Marine Corps and subsequently attended the Grantham School of Electronics. He spent the rest of his career as an elevator adjuster with the International Union of Elevator Contractors in and around the D.C. Metropolitan area. In his spare time, John enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his grandchildren. He was blessed with a loving family, many friends and a wonderful sense of humor. John is survived by his daughter, Mary Catherine Trahar of Edgewater, MD, his 3 grandchildren, Noah, Emma and Ryan and his sister, Jeane Parmer of Chesapeake Beach, MD. Funeral arrangements are pending.
