John Crawford - Obituary

ohn Ray Crawford, 63, a resident of Edgewater, MD for 15 years and formerly of Crownsville, MD passed away on August 31 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a six month battle with lung cancer along with complications. John was born on January 6, 1948 in Washington, D.C. to the late John and Shirley Crawford and grew up in Poughkeepsie NY. He attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY earning a B.S. in Physics. He spent the majority of his career working as a physicist/engineer for the National Security Agency at Fort Meade. John enjoyed many hobbies with his family including camping, fishing, boating, as well as most anything outdoors. Later in life his favorite hobbies where operating amateur radios and bicycling. He is survived by his wife Sandra of Edgewater, MD; daughter Christin of Edgewater, MD; son Jeffrey of North Beach MD; and sister Joan of Marion, OH. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 5, from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where a funeral service will held on Tuesday, September 6 at 1pm. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
