John Crellin - Obituary

ohn William Crellin, Sr., 89, a 25-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Hyattsville, MD died on June 23, 2011 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD. He was born July 6, 1921 in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Loyola University New Orleans. John served in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked for the Department of Defense, retiring after 35 years. John was a member of the Hibernians Club and was very active in the Heritage Harbour community. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite Grady Crellin, who died in 1981; and one brother, William Crellin. John is survived by one son, John W. Crellin, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn of Greenbelt, MD; two daughters, Catherine Widner and her husband, David of Silver Spring, MD and Mary Mundie of Laurel, MD; one brother, Raymond Crellin of Houston, TX; two grandsons, Christopher Crellin of Sterling, VA and Sean Mundie and his wife, Danielle of Elkridge, MD; two granddaughters, Shannyn Hyland and her husband, John of Ellicott City, MD and Sarah Widner of Silver Spring, MD; two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Teddy; also survived by his longtime companion, Cheryl Sabol. Friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 27 at 10am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1800 Seton Drive, Crofton, MD. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in John’s name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
