ohn (JACK) William Cunningham, 71, of Washington D.C. a beloved Brother, and Uncle went to be with the Lord on June 12, 2019.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Jack had a profound impact on so many people and an outpouring of love for all. He had a deep devotion to his faith and tried to live it on a daily basis.
He grew up in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and moved to Washington D.C. in 1976. There he was employed as a Senior Librarian for the Federal Trade Commission for the last 39 years.
Jack always loved learning and had many college degrees. He attended undergraduate studies at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA and Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA there he earned a BA in Latin, Greek and Classical Studies. He then went on and obtained a master’s degree in Latin, Greek , and Classical Studies at Catholic University in Washington D.C. He also finished a Doctoral Course in Latin and Greek at Catholic University in Washington D.C. He continued his passion for learning and obtained a master’s degree in library science at the University of Maryland.
Jack was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, John Scott Cunningham and Margaret Onlee Cunningham.
He is survived by his Sister and Brother-in-Law, Jomar and James Cutri, Naples, FL, his niece Sherri Powell Euless, TX, and his nephew, Christopher Cutri Naples, FL. Also his great-Niece’s, Miranda and Madison Powell Euless, TX. and cousins, Peggy Prigorac and Scott Sankey.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 10 am at the St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 630 E Street, SW. Washington D.C. 20024. We ask all to come by 9:30 am and wear bright brilliant colors for this celebration of Jack’s life. There will be a luncheon to follow after the service at the Church. All are welcome to attend.
