John Davis - Obituary

ohn “Johnny “ Edgar Davis, 71, a 35 year resident of Davidsonville, MD, passed away on Sunday July 20, 2008 , after a 4 year battle with cancer, at his home surrounded by his family. Born May 1, 1937 in Washington, D.C. to the late John E. and Violet Davis, Sr., he graduated from Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill, MD. John worked as a Warehouse Supervisor for Frank Parsons Paper Company for 40 ½ years. John was a member of Mt. Oak United Methodist Church in Mitchellville, MD. He loved NASCAR racing, especially the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and enjoyed yard work. John is survived by his wife Dorothy C. Davis, whom he married February 20, 1960. He is also survived by his children, Kenneth W. Davis, and Karen L. Edwards, both of Davidsonville, MD. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Alan Davis, who died in 2002. John is also survived by one sister Shirley Schellin of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and his 7 grandchildren: Sarah, Amy, Tyler, Alexander, Kimberly, Zachary and Kipp. Relatives and Friends are invited to John's Life celebration on Wednesday July 23, 2008 from 5pm until time of memorial service at 7pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment will be at Lakemont Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Hospice of the Chesapeake 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
