ohn F. Gainer, III John F. Gainer, III, an 18-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Fanwood, NJ for 23 years, died on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Anne Arundel Medical Center from a pulmonary embolism. He was 87. Born March 2, 1922 in Illinois to the late John F. & Minnie M. Gainer, Jr., he attended the University of Illinois where he received a B.A degree in Business. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps, flying a P51- Mustang during World War II. He worked for the Continental Can and Printpak, both are packaging companies. He was a proud member of the Annapolis Power Squadron, Calvary United Methodist Church, Caritas Society of St. Johns College in Annapolis, MD. John was also very active with the South County Senior Center and was a season ticket holder for all Navy sporting events. His hobbies included watching Navy sports and boating. John has gone to be with his wife of 60 years, JoAnn W. Gainer, whom he married August 14, 1948 and who died on February 15, 2008. He is survived by his children John F. Gainer IV of Kildeer, IL, Donna Jeckel of Cape Coral FL and Janice Donaghue of Silver Spring, MD; his brother Charles Gainer of Enterprise, AL and his late sisters Alice Jackson and Mildred Gainer; he is also survived by his grandchildren Jay, Libby, Kellie, Jonathan, Shawn, and his great-grandchildren Alexys, Abigail and Kaden. Friends are invited to John's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 11 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 10am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD 21401 or to the Annapolis Senior Center, 119 S.
