John Glass - Obituary

ohn L. Glass, 69, a 37-year resident of Edgewater, MD and formerly of Alexandria, VA, died of natural causes on September 2, 2009 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on November 30, 1939 in Layland, WV, he was the son of the late Lloyd W. and Nancy G. Glass. He graduated from Nuttall High School in Lookout, WV and attended Beckley Community College in Beckley, WV. He was self-employed for most of his life as a custom paint contractor. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater and the Londontowne Community Association. An avid Redskins fan, John also enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and reading. He was the husband of Josephine Elias Glass, whom he married on December 16, 1963 and who died on July 26, 2002. He is survived by three daughters: Deborah Straiton of Annapolis, MD, Pamela Kipp of Crofton, MD and Angela Malamon of Bowie, MD; one brother, Frank Glass of Edgewater; one sister, Jean Dick of Pottstown, PA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to John's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Tuesday, September 8, from 12 noon until time of funeral service at 1PM in the funeral home's chapel. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville, MD.
