John G. Guthrie - Obituary

ohn Guthrie "Jack," 80, a resident of Harwood, MD for 20 years and previously of Washington, DC and Chevy Chase, MD died on Monday, June 19 at his home due to heart failure. Born on August 5, 1936, in Washington, DC to the late Frederick P. and Lee Bowen Guthrie, Jack graduated from Washington & Lee University in 1961. He was a Senior V.P. of Engineering with Banctec Corporation and Computer Entry Systems both based in Silver Spring, MD. Jack enjoyed antique car restoration, woodworking and photography. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra H. Guthrie; his children, John (Kathleen) Guthrie, Jr. of Columbia, MD, Jenni Guthrie Brown of Galesville, MD, Fred Guthrie of Costa Rica and Lenoir (John Greaves) Guthrie of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Mathew, James and Christopher Greaves all of Jacksonville, FL, Andrew and Alexander Guthrie of Columbia, MD, Elizabeth, Julie, Bridgette and Mary Brown all of Burtonsville, MD and Hannah, Claire and Grace Guthrie all of Cumming, GA; his sister, Laura Saunders of San Rafael, CA and two great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate John's life on Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the George P.
