John Heaphy - Obituary

t is with deep sorrow and love that we mourn the passing of John Heaphy, 92, an Air Force veteran, and longtime resident of Annapolis and Grasonville, MD. In the morning hours on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, John passed peacefully in his sleep at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, July 9, 1932, John graduated from Glen Burnie High School and then joined the Air Force where he served honorably during the Korean War. While training in Virginia, John met his beloved wife of 54 years, the late, Peggy Jean Heaphy. After leaving the Air Force he joined Westinghouse Defense Group in 1951 as a technician and continued working at the BWI site for 41 years until his retirement in 1992. John was an avid hunter and fisherman and greatly enjoyed spending his time boating as well as “boasting” about his many trophy catches. He is survived by their three children John Patrick (Robin) Heaphy, Michael Anthony (Marianne) Heaphy and Daphne Lousie (Justino) Rivera (previously Heaphy), as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A private service and internment will be held at the family’s request.
