J

ohn Bradley Maher, 83, a 47-year resident of Edgewater, died at Tate Chesapeake Hospice House of Alzheimer’s Disease. Born on April 14, 1929, Mr. Maher attended high school in Washington, DC, graduating from McKinley Tech. He served in the United States Navy until 1948 and then served in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged in 1951. He served in the Korean War. After his military service, John went to work in the telecommunications industry, working for the C&P Telephone Company and AT&T. He spent his career working as a telecommunication technician until he retired at the age of 74. Mr. Maher was a member of the American Legion and the Communications Workers of America. He enjoyed gardening and sports. He is predeceased by two brothers, Mortimer “Jesse” Maher and Bill Maher. Mr. Maher is survived by his wife, Carolyn Maher of Edgwater; three children, Christopher T. Maher of Edgewater, John R. Maher of Annapolis, and Laura D. Maher Causey of Edgewater; a brother, Larry Maher of Clearwater, FL; and one granddaughter, Evangaline Maher of Edgewater. Friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Saturday May 12 at 2PM. Interment private.
