John E. McIntire - Obituary

ohn Edward McIntire, Sr., a 15-year resident of Harwood, MD and previously of Crofton, MD, died on Monday, October 2, 2017, at the Mandrin Inpatient Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was 53. Born November 26, 1963, in Key West, FL, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1981-85. John was employed as a Firefighter and Medic with the D.C. Fire Department and was a longtime volunteer for the Arundel Volunteer Fire Department Engine 7. During his career, John received several awards for outstanding performance. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was preceded in death by his father, Clark H. McIntire, Jr. John is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Penelope "Penny" McIntire; a son, John E. McIntire, Jr. of Winchester, VA; a sister, Debby Bush and her husband, Ed of Centreville, MD; his mother, Joan Dougherty and her husband, Gary; his stepmother, Marion McIntire; a niece, Megan Bush; a nephew, Ryan Bush; and three grandchildren, Christian, Alyssa and Ava McIntire. Friends are invited to celebrate John's life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Tuesday, October 10 from 6:00 pm until his funeral service begins at 7:00 pm. A private interment will be held at a later date.
