John D. Muncks - Obituary

ohn D. Muncks of Severna Park, MD, passed away peacefully at the Hospice of the Chesapeake on January 20, 2018 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. John graduated in 1970 from Washington & Lee University, and later received an MBA in Finance from American University. John was an executive with a number of locally owned and managed banks, the most recent of which was Revere Bank, with which he remained active until shortly before his death. He served on multiple boards during his career; he was a 1992 graduate of Leadership Baltimore, and went on to serve as a board member of Baltimore School for the Arts, the RMA Chesapeake Chapter, and the Graduate Business School at the University of Baltimore. He later served as an elder for Woods Church in Severna Park, MD. He was the loved and loving husband of Laura Cameron Muncks for 35 years, to whom he owes everything, and a very proud father to a son, JP Muncks, whose remarkable achievements and high principles have inspired his family through good times and not so good times. A lifetime dog lover, John had several dogs of varying quality, but he loved them all the same, including the current and highly flawed, Yogi the Toy Poodle. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122, which provided informed, loving, and incredibly responsive care through the last few months of John’s life; special mention to Brittany Stewart of Hospice of the Chesapeake, who, along with John’s family, made those months as good as they could possibly have been.
