John Murphy - Obituary

ohn Edward “Jack” Murphy, III, 62, a 34-year resident of Clinton, died September 10, 2011 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House. He was born April 5, 1949 in Cheverly and graduated from Northwestern High School. Jack was a self-employed mechanic who specialized in Ford trucks and parts. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1856 and an avid fan of NASCAR racing and Redskins football. He also enjoyed turkey shoots, playing poker, billiards, and KENO. He was a driver in several in demolition derbies in the 1980’s. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Murphy, of Galesville, whom he married in 1977, two sons, John Murphy of Clinton and Nicholas Murphy of Galesville, one daughter, Kerry Murphy of Greenville, SC, one brother Tommy Murphy of Friendship, and two sisters, Nell Till of Arnold and Kathy Murphy of Atherton, CA. Friends are invited to a memorial service for Jack on Sunday, September 18 at 2 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House, 3675 Solomons Island Road, Harwood, MD 20776.
