r. John Joseph "Jack" Noone, 98, passed away peacefully March 21, 2013 at his beloved home "Hidden Holly" in Annapolis. He was attended by the Visiting Angles, Hospice of the Chesapeake, his wonderful neighbors and his family. The son of the late Sarah and John Noone, Jack grew up in Lynn MA. He received a bachelor's degree from St Anselms College, a master's degree from Catholic University and achieved a doctorate in education from the University Of Maryland. In January 1942 Jack enlisted as an ensign in the US Navy and served in the Pacific Theater of WWII and, as a reservist, through the Korean War and into the 1960's. On Thanksgiving day 1942 Jack married Loretta Courneen and embarked on building a family and a career, in Washington D.C. His career included the superintendence of the District Training School in Laurel, MD., Chief of Mental Retardation at the National Institute of Mental Health, Executive Director of the American Association on Mental Deficiency, Superintendant of Great Oaks School in MD, a teaching position at Georgetown University, Senior Consultant with Hawkins and Associates, and, finally, volunteer service with the Annapolis Visitor Center, and the Charles Carroll House in Annapolis where he served into his 97th year. Jack lived a full and wonderfully loving life. The author of four books and a lifelong communicant in the Catholic church, Jack was devoted to his family, his reading and writing, Annapolis and his wonderful neighbors, the Washington Redskins, and his beloved Naval Academy "Middies". Jack is predeceased by his three sisters, his daughter Sarah, his wives Loretta and Mildred and his close companion Marge Vidnovic. Jack is survived by his sons Mark and Paul, devoted son in law Denis, grandchildren Tanya, Matthew and Jacob and great grandchildren Waker, Mason and name sake Jack. We all celebrate his incredible journey and it's peaceful end. A memorial service will be held at 10am, April 25 at the Naval Academy Chapel,108 Blake Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. A reception will follow the at the Naval Academy Club (formerly the Officers Club).
