ohn Norton, a 24-year resident of Shady Side, MD, died on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born May 25, 1948 in Washington, D.C. to the late Edward and Mabel Norton, he was employed, for 37 years, at SuperFresh / A&P Grocery Store. John loved his family with everything he had. His family never went without and he worked hard to provide for them. He was the kindest man anyone could meet. Everyone who met him loved his quiet and peaceful presence. He was the best father. There was nothing he could not fix or do. He was always there for his children and his children always knew they could count on him. He loved his grandchildren tremendously. John looked forward to all their events, sports and achievements. He was so very proud of them. John enjoyed his lunches with his granddaughter and the long car rides with his grandson. He enjoyed all the trips with his family. He loved it all. He always has a joke or a way to make you smile. His death is a tremendous lost to his family. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, John Norton Jr.; and two brothers, Sam Sigley and Jack Norton. He is survived by his bride of 52 years, Linda (Hilgenberg)Norton, whom he adored; a daughter, Christine Norton and her fiancé, Greg Collison of West River, MD; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie McDonald of West River, MD.
