John Parker - Obituary

ohn Joseph Parker, CDR USN (Ret) passed away suddenly on April 2, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Beatrice L. Parker; loving stepfather of Gerald L. Parker and Donna L. Lesson-Davis; brother of Frank and Fred Parker and Barbara Mahoney. He is survived by his seven granchildren, Casey, Christopher, Melissa, Robin, Brent, Brittany and Michelle and three great-grandchildren, Richard, Jacob and Everet. Born on November 9, 1929 in Mount Kisco, NY, he was the son of John and Ruth Parker. During his distinguished 30 year military career he was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He had many duty stations during his career including the Antarctica where a mountain was named in his honor. Family and friends are invited to John's Life Celebration on July 5,2013, at St Columba Catholic Church 7800 Livingston Rd, Oxon Hill MD, from 9:30am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at 1pm with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Fr. Dewan Student Scholarship Fund at St. Columba Church
