I

t is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John “Jack” A. Perry, Jr., affectionately known as “Papa Jack” or “Paw Paw”, who went to our Lord on June 14, 2024 with his dear friend Nellie Jones at his side, at the age of 87. Born to the late John A. Perry Sr. and Gustavia Wemyss Perry of Tracys Landing, MD on May 30, 1937, Jack was a graduate of Southern High School. He proudly served in the Navy and remained in the Navy Reserves for several years. Jack married Elaine Mattingly in 1989. They moved from Lothian, MD to Bluffton, SC to start a new chapter of their lives. He had a lengthy career with PEPCO until his retirement at 55 years old. In his retirement, Jack enjoyed traveling, woodworking, fishing, golfing, karaoke, visiting with friends, and talking on the phone. Most important to him was his family. He had a loving relationship with his children and took great pride in his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Perry and his sister, Wemyss Sterling Moreland (Pat). He is survived by his friend, Nellie Jones; his children, Lisa Ingle (Clarence), Deanna Perry Streit (Jay), Annice Mattingly Weaver (Harry), and Kenneth Mattingly (Debbie); eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Friends are invited to celebrate Jack’s life on Wednesday, June 26 from 11 am to 1 pm, with Words of Remembrance being shared at 12:30 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD.
