ohn C. Shymansky, Jr., 81, of Edgewater, MD died on December 24, 2008 of natural causes at his home.
Born November 11, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a master electrician and was employed as a supervisor for Howard P. Foley Electrical Contractors and Walter C. Doe Electrical Contractors, both in Washington, D.C. for 25 years, finally retiring in 1980. Mr. Shymansky was in the Seabees in the Navy during WWII. His memberships included the Local IBEW 26, where he was a member for over 50 years and he was former president of the Davidsonville Ruritan Club. John's hobbies included fishing, boating, bridge and card playing.
He was the beloved husband of Gertrude P. Shymansky, whom he married in 1948; devoted father of John C. Shymansky, III of LaPlata, MD and R. Michael Shymansky of Annapolis, MD; brother of Eleanor Boyle of Silver Spring, MD, Christine Yates of Cobb Island, MD and the late Edward Shymansky and Gladys Burko; also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to John's Life Celebration on Monday, December 29, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
