John Sorrell - Obituary

ohn Byron Sorrell, 63, a 30-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of University Park, MD died at home on January 24, 2010 from injuries sustained in a house fire. Born February 15, 1946 in Washington, D.C., he obtained his undergraduate degree from Alderson-Broaddus College and his Juris Doctorate from Catholic University of America. John was self employed as a private practice attorney and as a realtor with South River Properties. Mr. Sorrell enjoyed golf, skiing, boating, corvettes, the Washington Redskins and his beloved golden retrievers. He was a member of the bar association for Maryland, Virginia and District of Columbia. John was also a licensed pilot. He was the beloved husband of the late Michelle Sorrell, who died in 2006; devoted brother of Joan E. Sorrell of Edgewater, MD; son of W. Byron Sorrell of Deale, MD and the late Viola “Betty” Sorrell; uncle of Samuel J. and Christian B. Worsham; great-uncle of Grace R. and Faith A. Worsham. Friends are invited to John's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday, January 31 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at St. James Parish, 5757 Solomons Island Road Lothian, MD on Tuesday, February 2 at 1pm. Interment church cemetery.
