ohn A. Tayman, 74, of Davidsonville for the past 20 years and previously of the Hillsmere community in Annapolis, died Thursday, May 31 after a 14 month battle with cancer. Born October 10, 1937 in Annapolis to the late Charles R. and Katherine M. Tayman, he attended St. Mary’s in Annapolis and Arundel High School. John was a milkman for Greenspring Dairy in Edgewater delivering milk door to door. He then worked for Embassy Dairy in Waldorf for 23 years. After retirement, John went to work at the Bowie Wal-Mart where he retired in February, 2011. He was also a very proud veteran, serving in the National Guard in 1959. John was a one time member of the Annapolis Moose Lodge #296 and was a Sunday school teacher at Eastport Baptist Church. His hobbies included watching NASCAR, listening to country music, doing yard work, sitting on his porch and loving his cat, Emma. Along with his parents, John was also preceded in death by a son, John “Tony” Tayman, Jr. and a brother, Albert “Lewis” Tayman. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Susan Gore Tayman; his previous wife, Mary Jane Voss Jacobsen; one son, Michael W. Tayman of Chester; two daughters, Christy Lewellyn of York, PA and Kay Bisaillon of Virginia Beach, VA; two step-sons, Robert Riggleman of Shady Side and Michael Riggleman of Luray, VA; one step-daughter, Sandra Moreland Oldham of Davidsonville; 4 sisters, Edna Smith of Brandywine, Blanche Rice of Port Republic, Louise Robbins of Tazwell, VA and Rose Gantt of Calabash, NC; 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and one great-grandson. Friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration on Sunday, June 3 from 2-5PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, where a memorial service will be celebrated on Monday, June 4 at 10AM. Interment private.
