ohn Lance Tedder, 76, a 26-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Michigan, died on November 14, 2014 at his home after a two-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born on September 19, 1938 in Detroit, MI to the late John and Mary Louise Tedder, John graduated from Ferris State University. He had a passion for cars and became a Service Development Manager for the Chrysler Corporation. He enjoyed many achievements during his career and the highlight for John was receiving the Chairman of the Board Award from Lee Iacocca.
John enjoyed auto racing and was a drag racer for over 30 years. He won the NHRA National Championship in 1972 in the Super Stock AA Division. As a factory sponsored drag racer for the Chrysler Corporation, John became known as Mr. Motech in recognition of his success in recruiting students throughout the 70s and 80s for Motech, the Automotive Educational Center.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Tedder who died in 1998. He is survived by his partner, Muriel Miller; two children, John J. Tedder of Davidsonville, MD and Kim Rooney of Annapolis, MD; two stepchildren, Mark Moskwiak of Loudon, TN and Michele Lake of Ann Arbor, MI; a sister, Barbara Miller of Simi Valley, CA; and five grandchildren, Colin and Ethan Tedder, Alexis Rooney, Kristen Lake and Jordan Moskwiak.
Friends are invited to John’s Life Celebration from 5 until 7 PM on Monday, November 17 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11AM on Tuesday, November 18 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville. Interment private.
