J

ohn Veneziano, "Jack", 58, a resident of Huntingtown, MD for nineteen years and originally from Hagerstown, MD, died on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home. Born on July 31, 1959 in Plainfield, NJ to Carmen N. and Rosemary T. Veneziano, Jack earned a Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice from Virginia Commonwealth University. He was an employee of Restaurant Nora in Washington, DC for thirty years, eventually serving as general manager. Restaurant Nora was honored to be a recipient of the The James Beard Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award. After retiring from Restaurant Nora in 2017, Jack enjoyed volunteering with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, browsing for reading material at the local library, cultivating his garden, and spending time with family and friends. He recently began working part-time at Annapolis Wine Cellars. Jack enjoyed kayaking, gardening, cooking, reading, music and wine. He is survived by his fiancé, Katy Mozingo and her children, Anna and Joe Mozingo; his sisters, Kathleen McCauley and Teresa J. Veneziano both of Hagerstown, MD; his brother, Carmen K. Veneziano, and wife Jeanie Veneziano, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; his nieces, Colleen T. McCauley of Hagerstown, MD, Annie M. Sandigo, and husband Kelvin Sandigo, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen N. and Rosemary T. Veneziano and his nephew, Carmen J. Veneziano. Friends are invited to celebrate Jack's life on Thursday, March 1 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his memorial service will be held on Friday, March 2 at 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to the USMH Foundation, Inc., 32 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740 (memo line- Carmen Joseph Veneziano Memorial Scholarship, c/o Erin Harmon).
