John Yeigh - Obituary

J

ack Yeigh, a resident of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Stevensville, MD for 30 years, passed away on July 22, 2015 at the age of 85. Jack was born in Lewistown, PA and later moved to Wilmington, DE. He was a dancer in high school, followed by three years of U.S. Navy service during the Korean War on the USS Waller. He attended the University of Delaware and afterward commenced a successful sales career in the industrial pump and automotive industries. It was at Delaware where he met his wife of 58 years, Joan D. Yeigh, who pre-deceased him. Jack was a long time and avid power boater where he undertook race committee duties for more than 40 years at a number of New Jersey and Maryland Yacht Clubs. Most recently he has been a member of the Kent Island Yacht Club. His passion of the last several decades was boater safety and education as an active member of the Kent Island Sail and Power Squadron where he held a number of positions including Commander. Jack is survived by his son John, daughter-in-law Karen, and two grandchildren Megan and Evan, all of Severna Park. In keeping with Jack’s wishes, he will return to the oceans for his final voyage in a small private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to either the United States Power Power Squadron Educational Fund (a 501C), Administrative Assistant, PO Box 30423, Raleigh, NC 27622 or American Lung Association, 55 Wacker Dr., Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
