on Edwin Leatherbarrow was born August 11, 1971, in Washington, D.C. and died on August 6, 2010 in Berkeley, CA. Jon was an excellent student attending Old Mill Senior High School from 1985-1989, and graduating from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science in 1994 and the University of California-Berkeley, with a Masters in Environmental Engineering in 1998. He attended the University of California-Davis and was nearing completion of his dissertation for a PhD in Environmental Engineering. Throughout his education Jon participated in school sports and was a superb athlete. He was a self-taught guitarist and creative artist. In addition, Jon was a voracious reader and avid outdoorsman who was committed to the environment. Jon was a devoted son to Mary Beth Spaeth and Ronald Leatherbarrow, step-son to Drew Spaeth, brother to Rick, brother-in-law to Maureen, uncle to Bradley, Haley, Hannah, and Kate, step-brother to Katie Russell, and boyfriend to Taylor Gregory. Friends are invited to Jon’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 20137 on Saturday, August 28, 2010. Friends and family will gather from 1:00PM to 2:00PM with the Memorial Service starting at 2:00PM. Interment private.
