Joseph M. Clark - Obituary

oseph Michael Clark, 58, known to all as “Joey” or “Big Joe” passed away suddenly on September 1, 2026 surrounded by his family. Joey was born on July 20, 1968 at Georgetown Hospital in Washington, DC. Joey lived most of his life on Holly Avenue in Edgewater, MD. He was known as the fastest kid on the street, the funniest one in the pack, and the one you wanted on your team every single time. Joey was a gifted athlete who excelled in football and lacrosse. When the games weren’t organized, he was still in motion – playing kickball and dodgeball, racing mini-bikes an go-karts in the back field behind his house, hunting snapping turtles in the muddy ditches, and crabbing at the dock. He spent his life working as a flooring tradesman. Those who knew him remember his kind heart, his dedication to God, and the beautiful smile he greeted everybody with. Joey always made a room feel easier the moment he walked in. That smile, that laugh, and his love of showing up for people are what so many will carry with them. Joey is survived by his parents, Marsha Clark and James Dare; his brother, James Clark; his daughter, Laura Clark; his sons, Joey (Gabby) and Johnathan Clark; and four grandchildren, Taylor, Nathan, Cameron, and Riley. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Joey’s life on Friday, September 11 from 10 am to 12 noon at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD, where his funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. A Celebration of Life for Joey will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 2 pm at the Heritage Harbour Community Lodge, 959 River Strand Loop, Annapolis, MD 21401.
