oseph A. “Joe” Clorety III, 73, an 18-year resident of Crownsville, MD and a lifelong resident of the Washington, DC area, passed away on November 4, 2016 following a heart attack. Born on November 23, 1942 in Washington, DC to the late Claire and Joseph Clorety, Jr., Joe graduated from St. Francis University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Philosophy. He worked for the Acacia Life Insurance Company in Washington, DC for over 20 years. He resigned as Executive Vice President of Investments in 1987 to open his own investment advisory business. Joe was an avid runner and longtime member of the Annapolis Striders. He enjoyed golf, travel and spending time with his family, especially his seven grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Peggy Clorety; four children, Christine (Peter) Corte of Hanover, PA, Colleen Leith of Germantown, MD, Kevin Clorety of Baltimore, MD, and Cliff (Stephanie) Clorety of West River, MD; and seven grandchildren, Matthew, Claire and Nicholas Corte, Adrianna and Logan Leith, and Chase and Parker Clorety.
Friends are invited to celebrate Joe’s life with his family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Joe’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial private.
