oseph "Joe" Albert Fentress, 71, of Upper Marlboro passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, after a brief battle with a very aggressive cancer. Joe was born on January 2, 1947, in South Weymouth, Massachusetts to Albert and Hazel Fentress. He joined the U.S. Navy Reserves in 1967, and in 1969 was transferred to active duty and served in Vietnam. Joe spent the majority of his non-military career with Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company and Verizon as a telephone technician. He loved his dog, bowling with friends, working in his yard, and enjoying his 1970 Charger.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Albert, and three brothers: William, Michael, and Phillip. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; mother, Hazel; daughter, Wendy (James) Paulin of Indian Head; grandsons, Hunter, Brandon, Brian and Jonathan; brothers, Richard (Cheryl) of Friendship, MD and Albert (Val) of Nevada; as well as many nieces and nephews, including Sheri, Richard Jr. and Matthew "Mattie" (Katie) Fentress.
Friends are invited to celebrate Joe's life on Thursday, June 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Friday, June 8 at 12 PM.
